In 1946, Dr. Menghetti's father, Victor A. Menghetti, Sr., founded the Media Veterinary Hospital. The original hospital was located at 5 Points in Upper Providence. In these early days, Dr. Menghetti, Sr. operated a mixed animal practice focusing primarily on farm animals in Delaware County. As the area became more residential, the practice evolved into a small animal hospital exclusively. Media Veterinary Hospital's current location was built in 1954. In 1982, Dr. Victor Menghetti, Jr. graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School and joined his father's practice. Over the past 20 years, Media Veterinary Hospital has continually upgraded it facilities and diagnostic capabilities, in addition to increasing the size of its veterinary staff, in order to better serve the area's growing pet population and provide its clients with the very latest in veterinary health care and treatment options.
Media Veterinary Hospital is comprised of a modern hospital, surgical unit, radiology department and on-site laboratory. We emphasize preventive care whenever possible to ensure a happy, healthy and long life for your pet. We offer physical examination, vaccinations, heartworm and parasite prevention, geriatric health care programs for older pets, veterinary dentistry, and nutritional counseling services.
We recommend a complete physical exam for your pet on a yearly basis. Lots of changes can occur from year to year, especially as your pet gets older. Preventative health care recommendations are made based on examination findings and your pet’s individual needs and situation, which you help us to determine. This may include blood, urine, or fecal tests, vaccinations, dietary or exercise advice, and life-style changes.
Our Veterinarians are trained in state-of-the-art surgical techniques should your pet require a surgical procedure. We offer a full range of soft tissue surgeries from routine spays and neuters to more advanced procedures. In addition, we use an Isoflurane anesthetic machineconsidered to be the safest anesthetic administration for pets.
At Media Veterinary Hospital, you won't have to wait days for laboratory analysis. Our fully equipped veterinary laboratory allows us to perform advanced diagnostics such as electrolytes, blood chemistry, and CBC testing to help us determine the best treatment plan for your pet's medical condition. Immediate results can be shared to help you and your Veterinarian determine treatment options available for your pet's health care needs.
Our modern X-Ray equipment ensures your pet has minimal exposure to radiation, while our automatic processor produces clear, quality films. Within minutes, we can have your pet's X-rays taken, processed and ready for interpretation by our doctors.
We also offer advanced Ultrasound technology to help us diagnose your pet's medical condition without the trauma of invasive exploratory surgery. Ultrasound imaging can give us a clear and precise format from which to determine the most effective treatment options for your pet.
Endoscopy is a medical procedure that enables us to look at the gastrointestinal tract using a thin, flexible tube with a tiny camera at the tip. Within the tube is a channel that allows the passage of a variety of diagnostic instruments for examination and biopsy. Veterinary Endoscopy allows definitive evaluation of the lining of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and colon. Small samples of these areas can be taken and then analyzed in order to determine the exact nature of your pet's problem.
These first visits are especially fun and very important in getting your new pet off to a good start. Our doctors perform thorough physical examinations, focusing on any internal or external parasite problems, congenital or developmental abnormalities. Any problems detected will be thoroughly explained and treated if possible.
Necessary vaccinations will be performed at this time. Our doctors and assistants will give you the latest information about diet, training, and preventative care.
We provide special attention to aging pets focusing on preventative measures and the early detection and treatment of problems. Older patients commonly experience the same problems that older humans do – heart problems, diabetes, arthritis, chronic renal insufficiency, dental problems, hearing and vision loss, etc. Many of these conditions we can treat to extend and improve your older pet’s quality of life.
Often times, behavior modification techniques can help your pet to live a happier and healthier life.
We offer behavioral counseling for dogs and cats concerning such issues as separation anxiety, aggression, inappropriate urination, and many other problems that your pets may be experiencing.
